Who is Melco Saurer?

Melco Embroidery Systems was founded 1972 in Denver Colorado as a Software company.

In 1977, the Melco team introduced its revolutionary
product, Digitrac®, the first computerized digitizing system for the embroidery industry. 1978 Melco started to develop there first embroidery machine the Star 1. After the big success of Star 1 they start to develop the multi-head embroidery machines.

In 1990, Melco was purchased by Saurer Ltd. of Winterthur, Switzerland. Saurer owns and manages more than eight of the top textile manufacturing companies in the world, including Schiffli embroidery equipment. The purchase by Saurer gave Melco an instant credibility in the textiles marketplace, and provided the contacts and resources necessary for expansion.

The foundation for an epochally new development was made. Based on productivity, flexibility and quality a fully new embroidery machine was planed: a modular machine system in connection with ActiFeed. The AMAYA (As Many As You Add) was born. The development took around 3 years. Until Today the AMAYA is the fastest, most productive and flexible embroidery machine on the market.
