1946  Foundation of Messrs. Allma Allgäuer Maschinenbau. Production of urgently needed
           consumer goods and repair of textile and paper-making machines
1947  Manufacturing of the first ring twisting machine developed by Allma
1960  Allma is taken over by Saurer AG, Arbon/Switzerland and renamed as Saurer-Allma GmbH
1962  Manufacturing of the first Two-for-One twisting machine
1974  Manufacturing of the first electronically controlled fancy twister EES-X
1979  Manufacturing of the first hollow spindle fancy twister ESP
1990  Merger of the companies Allma, Hamel and Volkmann to form Saurer Twisting Systems
1991  First presentation in the new corporate design at the ITMA '91 in Hannover
1992  Production start of the single-stage cabling machine for tire cord CableCorder
1994  Entering the apparel filament market with the Two-for-One twister Filament HT
1999  Presentation of the new products CableCorder CC3, TechnoCorder TC-S and Fancynator
           at the ITMA, Paris
2000  New corporate design for all Saurer companies
2002  Successful launching of the hollow spindle fancy twister Fashionator EHP / EHC on the market
2003  New design of the two-for-one twister Filament LT and new development TC-S MiniLab
2004  Launch of MultiCorder
2006  Launch of CC Easy and Fascinator ECP 1

1853 Establishment of the Franz Saurer foundry.
1869 Construction of the first hand embroidery machine by Franz Saurer.
1878 First shuttle embroidery machine with 4 ½ yards embroidery length.
1898 Adolph Saurer takes over the business.
1912 Hippolyt Saurer develops the first automatic embroidery machine (replacement for the pantograph).
1931 Construction of the first 2S-embroidery machines with 10 and 15 yards embroidery length and 60 cm embroidery height.
1955 Saurer launches the 2S-55 embroidery machine. This model was the be-all and end-all in the embroidery industry for nearly 20 years.
1973 A new dimension in embroidery machine construction: the 1040 machine with 10 and 15 yards embroidery length, and 75 and 104 cm embroidery height, are introduced into the market.
1979 Introduction of the Saurer-top-shuttle with double the yarn capacity.
1983 Saurer engineers develop the electronically controlled switching for individual embroidery positions, Pentamat. In the same year, Saurer introduces the Datamat, for embroidery program storage, and the era of card less embroidery has arrived.
1987 The Saurer Positronic control system replaces the mechanical embroidery automatic.
1988 Founding of Saurer Embroidery Systems as a member of the Saurer Group.
1993 Première of the Saurer 3040 with integrated control system and programmable Pentacut thread cut device.
1995 The Epoca is presented at the ITMA Milan. This single-level embroidery machine with the active thread delivery ActiFeed and the thread cut system Pentacut is the beginning of a new era in shuttle embroidery machine construction.
2001 Saurer Embroidery Systems AG and Hamel AG merge. The new company is called Saurer Hamel AG, later Saurer Arbon AG.
2002 Saurer Arbon presents PitStop to the customers. With this new development, the time-consuming activity of filling and readjusting the shuttles can be carried out completely automatically for the first time in the history of embroidery.
2005 Saurer introduces the first integrated laser cutting and engraving device for shuttle embroidery machines.
2006 The Epoca family was enlarged by the first two-frame machine with independently moving frames.
2007 Saurer joint the technology company OC Oerlikon.
